This worshop aims to showcase some of the compelling and innovative technologies and methodologies used to create contemporary alternative controller experiences. The workshop includes learning about alternative controllers, designing, creating, and decorating controllers for different game types using low-cost conductive materials (Fruits, Magnets, Foam, etc.) and using Makey-Makey interfaces to test and interact with specific curated games.
Participants will learn about alternative controllers and the different ways we can interact with the digital environment. They will gain design, creation, and basic circuitry knowledge.
By the end of the workshop, students will have:
- Learned about some of the compelling and innovative technologies and methodologies used to create contemporary alternative controller experiences
- Compared alternative controllers from the past, present, and future
- Evaluated various custom controllers
